| The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for analyzing business requirements to understand customer business needs and determining how the technology applications provided by Fulcrum can best functionally fill those needs. The Business Systems Analyst combines the knowledge of what Fulcrum customers want with the knowledge of how the systems are built and used to create a functional solution. |
| Primary
Duties and Responsibilities: |
Solicits, interprets and translates business requirements directly with the customer. Must understand related processes, conduct needs assessments and apply them to Fulcrum-based solutions.
Writes, reviews and edits solid functional specifications, business process diagrams, and/or system requirements that can be translated into technical specifications. May include use case analysis and modeling.
May document functionality, system configuration specifications, testing requirements and any training documentation necessary for the comprehensive solution.
Reviews and provides input on other team members project-related documentation, such as business requirements, technical specifications, training materials, test cases, project plans, status reports, etc.
Relays and translates information from the Development or Services departments to the client in easily understood terms for both groups.
Acts as a liaison between clients and Technical Analysts/Development, distinguishing requests from needs.
Writes test cases to functional requirements. Performs and documents functional testing. Assists in the tracking and resolution of testing issues.
Writes technical design specifications with the assistance of Technical Analysts and Development staff.
Participates in functional specification peer reviews to ensure compliance with established guidelines as needed.
Acts as a team lead as assigned, which may require delegating, coordinating and tracking the work of others.
May, as appropriate, be asked to provide input on estimating level of effort for tasks for planning and budgeting purposes.
Looks for business opportunities to streamline processes with automated solutions.
Communicates to Fulcrums customers on additional potential solutions that address their business or system-related needs. |
| Education
and Experience: |
| Four-year college degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems or related field preferred. |
| Knowledge,
Skills, Abilitites: |
5 8 years experience performing systems and/or business analysis, including creating process and data flow diagrams using Microsoft Visio or other tools.
5+ years experience with enterprise database-driven system implementations.
Experience with Microsoft Office products, Windows NT/2000/XP operating systems and SQL required.
Experience with Microsoft Pocket PC/Windows Mobile, Oracle and XML preferred.
Software training experience a plus.
Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work with a diverse group of internal and external staff.
Ability to present highly technical material to non-technical business audiences.
Analytical, organized and able to prioritize and resolve business and technical problems in a logical way.
Ability to work under pressure in a highly visible and fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated with ability to work effectively independently, with the customer and as part of a team.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities and levels of ambiguity and meet deadlines.
Extensive knowledge of business issues and processes, as well as enabling technologies.
Telecommunications industry experience a plus. |
